2008 CCMA Oceano Dune Beach Race

On-site sign up starts at noon on Friday (October 10) through 8:00 p.m., and opens at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

 

Track:

 

Approximately 7 mile natural terrain course in the dunes, fully marked and ribboned.  ATVs and motorcycles run side-by-side.

 

Schedule and Practice:  

Jetting area available to registered riders Friday noon to 5:00 p.m.  See schedule for race day schedule details. Race Day Schedule - click here.  Flags are not needed on the course, but flags are required at all times off the race course.

 

 

 

Purse:

 

 

 

100 percent pro purse to win in pro quads and motorcycle.  

 

New - just added to the purse!!  Additional $3,000 donated by Seymour Duncan!!  Top 15% in pro quads, motorcycle, expert and sportsman class teams receive proportionate share of the additional $3,000 donation.

CCMA--the 2008 event is NOT a WORCS event.

 

Classes:

 

Classifications include motorcycle, ATV, UTV, mini-buggy, individual, ironman, team and youth classifications.  See the Sign-Upssheet for more information and details on classifications.

Sound Restrictions:

 

 

96 decible, with some room for error, but don’t count on it…

 

Safety Equipment:

 

All ATVs must have a cutoff switch.  Other Safety equipment for pilots and utility vehicles will be posted.

 

Other Restrictions:  

Paddle tires are prohibited in all races except for the paddle tire exhibition race on Sunday and the mini-buggy races.  

 

Refueling In Hot Pits:

 

Refueling in the hot pits must take place at designated refueling locations that are equipped to catch spilled fuel.  Racers will be disqualified if they do not use the pits.

 

Pit Area:

 

Located just off the beach near pole four.  A location map will be provided.  Beach access is from Grand Avenue entrance (not Pier Avenue).

 

Tech Inspection:

 

Located adjacent to the pits.  Hours are noon to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 6:00 a.m. to the last race on Sunday.

 

Vendor Area:

 

There will be a vendor area located adjacent to the pits with a large 60’ x 60’ tent, including food vendors.  Saturday night will include a BBQ at this location.  Each race entry receives one free ticket to the BBQ.

 

Camping:

 

Camping in the pits is allowed with a camping pass issued by the State Parks.  This is unimproved camping on the beach.  There are also nearby improved campgrounds.  

 

State Park Passes:

 

All users of the beach, including racers, must pay a day use fee to State Parks at the beach entrance.  All campers must pay State Park’s camping fee.  It is strongly recommended that camping reservations be made well in advance of this event.  Go to Reserve America (800) 444-7275 or online at www.reserveamerica.com.

Access in the Sand:

 

All sizes and types of vehicles have accessed the pits in past events, including two wheel drives, motorhomes and semi-trailers.  It is highly recommended that vehicles air down.  Semis should access at low tide.  Tide schedules will be posted.  The CCMA will have tow vehicles and personnel available to assist in placement in the pits starting on Thursday.  Support services are available from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Friday and 5:30 a.m. to 11:00 Saturday and Sunday.  Absent special arrangements, the CCMA does not escort vehicles from the entrance ramps to the race site.  If you have a semi, large vehicle or need other special arrangements, contact Dana Azevedo in advance of the event to schedule special arrangements (805) 441-8691 or dazevedo@calpoly.edu.

 

Beach Shuttle

 

The CCMA will operate a shuttle from the Grand Avenue entrance to the race site.  Hours are to be announced.  The shuttle is handicap equipped, contact Collette Hillier for further information (805) 440-3478 or chillier1@gmail.com.
